Theatre Treasurer Judy Ketley with the Mayor and Mayoress of Swale

The Friends of Sheppey Little Theatre (FoSLT)Scheme was launched on Friday 18 February. FoSLT aims to raise £10,000 towards the building costs of a new extension to the theatre to improve facilities there. The launch event at the theatre showcased some of the performers who regularly appear. The Mayor of Swale Clr Stephen Worrall and Mayoress Mrs Therese Davies attended and purchased the first brick. Matt Ramsden, editor of Sheerness Times Guardian was also there. Two books donated by Michael Palin were auctioned as were two box sets of the award winning TV series the Inbetweeners, donated by the series writer Iain Morris. Amicus Horizon housing association gave us a cheque for £2,000 and people attending the event genorously donated £350. We would like to thank everyone who helped us make this event such a success. Over the next 9 - 12 months we will be running a series of action days to speak to people about the theatre and raise funds. We hope to speak with local businesses, societies and clubs to explore how we can link up with them to promote the Friends aims.

    Your little theatre

Sheppey Little Theatre has been run entirely by volunteers since 1975. The building is a lot older as it was opened as a church hall in 1891. It was purchased in 1969 for £1000 and after a lot of hard work and help from many local businesses Sheppey Little Theatre was opened by the then Minister for the Arts, Hugh Jenkins, MP on Saturday 25 October 1975.

We rely on people supporting us by coming to see shows and those who are generous enough to make donations. Sheppey Little Theatre is run by the community for the community.
