Formed in 1962
We are currently rehearsing a new show and this will be performed at Sheppey Little Theatre on 24 April 2010.
In May 1960 a variety concert was put on by some of the villagers of Newington and £22 was raised for the 1959 World Refugee Fund. Following on from this concert representatives from all the village organisations decided to continue to put on shows to raise funds for various causes, in and outside the village, and at the same time to meet together to enjoy themselves. Further shows were put on and proved to be very popular. In 1962 Newington Concert Party was formed and the first show put on by the Concert Party was called "A Grand Concert". Six of the current Newington Concert Party members performed in some or all of these early shows.
Performances have taken place over the years for viullages near and far, old peoples homes, societies and for various charities.
Our first performance at Sheppey Little Theatre was "Talk Of The Island" in 1976 and we have continued to go "across the water", every year since then.
In 1996 The Rotary Club of Sittingbourne and Milton presented the Newington Concert Party with a Community Service Award in recognition of special service to the community.
We continue our connection with Newington and rehearse every Tuesday in the Newington Village Hall.
