Last year the people of Sheppey voted for Sheppey Little Theatre, lift for life to give us £55,000 from the National Lottery People's Millions. This enabled us to install a lift for disabled people and those with mobility difficulties so everyone can enjoy live local theatre on Sheppey. Work started in April and finished this week.
The first picture shows the challenge for anyone wanting to come to see shows at the Theatre - climbing these stairs! For some theatre goers this wasn't possible, other people struggled up them the best they could. Now there is a ramp from street level to the foyer, a lift to take those with mobility difficulties to/from the auditorium, space for wheelchairs and disabled toilets. Now everyone can enjoy live theatre at Sheppey Little Theatre. These pictures taken by Linda Rogout show how the work progressed.
